Coronavirus: Keeping You and Your Car Clean.

Keeping You And Your Car Clean During The Coronavirus Outbreak

Wash your hands before stepping foot in your car, each and it may be a good idea to wash your hands thoroughly to prevent spreading the Coronavirus. Washing your hands for a solid 60 seconds is the best way to ensure your hands are thoroughly cleaned.

Wiping Down Doorknobs and Keys.

Before stepping foot in your vehicle during this Coronavirus outbreak, it would serve you to wipe down your home door, car key, alarm and even the car door handles. Wherever your hands come into contact with another surface, you should wipe both your hands and that surface down. Be very slow and thorough wiping down all surfaces to ensure you clean them as good as possible.

Vacuum Your Car Regularly.

If you have a vacuum at home, there’s no excuse. Make sure you vacuum your car regularly and thoroughly. Don’t forget to remove the mats on your car and vacuum the areas where your mats are. Germs can collect and sit on car floors, so vacuuming frequently helps minimize the spread of the virus.

Wiping Down the Inside.

Use a good car cleaner or even Clorox wipes. The bad news is, fabric seats tend to soak in the bacteria. If you have leather seats, bacteria doesn’t soak in as easily. Check the ingredient labels on your cleaning supplies and call the manufacturer and ask if the cleaner is safe to use on your car if you have any doubts.

Make sure you wipe down your steering wheel, cup-holders, and console. Don’t forget to wipe down your glove compartment too!

According to the Centers For Disease Control (CDC): “It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.”

Disinfect Your Car HVAC unit

A HVAC unit circulates all the air in your car. It is essential that you disinfect and clean your HVAC unit regularly to prevent spreading germs.

As it gets hotter outside, it may be a good time to clear your system and top off the coolant. You can do this yourself or go to a local mechanic for assistance.

Make sure to clean and remove the cabin filter as well. The cabin filter is located right behind the glove compartment. Make sure to thoroughly clean your cabin filter before putting it back. If you are unsure of what cleaner works best, make sure to check with a mechanic.
